UNO is preparing to go online with its classes for the foreseeable future.
“What we're focusing on this week is doing a dry run, we're doing a test case,” said Jeffrey Gold, Chancellor at the University of Nebraska Omaha, and University Nebraska Medical Center. “To make sure we're going to check all the bells and whistles and make sure that the technology works well, that there are no issues, questions or concerns that could arise in event that this became necessary."
Officials are currently testing across all University of Nebraska campuses to see if they're ready to move their courses online.
UNL remains close to moving classes online.
Certain classes at UNL, such as science labs, film classes and more are already moved online.
Using ZOOM, a virtual classroom, these classes will be held online for the foreseeable future. Olga Tytarenko, a professor of Russian film at UNL, moved one of her classes online this week.
Others are set to follow.
Recent murmurs claim either the week before or the week after spring break will be used, in addition to spring break itself, as a two week period to contain the virus.
Target, Wal-Mart, others are training their workers for outbreak, certain items limited to five per customer.
Target sent out an article on March 10 outlining its plans to contain the virus.
“On top of our daily cleaning procedures, we’re adding hours to each store’s payroll to make our routines even more rigorous,” the email said. “This means more time will be spent cleaning our stores, including cleaning surfaces like checklanes and touchscreens at least every 30 minutes."
Lincoln and Omaha Walmart, Target and Baker’s locations have seen a major uptick in online shopping, as well as limited cleaning supplies, toilet paper, and more to 2-5 per person, given location.
The current count in the state is now four, while others, according to multiple sources at UNMC, are anticipated to be tested positive in the coming days.
